Norsk Bingo goes online in bingo halls

Bingo players in Norway will soon be able to go their local bingo hall and play online bingo against players from across Europe.Norsk Bingo AS, which owns 30 bingo halls across Norway, plan to install 2000 touch-screen tabletop kiosks within the next two years.The kiosks operate using software from Parlay Entertainment, who said that 20 terminals were installed during the autumn prior to the larger rollout.Players deposit money onto the terminals using radio frequency identification cards, which can be loaded at the same place they buy bingo tickets for the real world bingo games.

Facebook bans bingo advertising

Facebook has reviewed its advertising policies and bingo has been added to the list of ‘morally unacceptable’ products.A Facebook announcement said that they would ban “gambling, including without limitation, any online casino, sports books, bingo, or poker.” Gambling is joined on the list by around twenty other products, including guns, tobacco, spy cameras, nudity, uncertified pharmaceuticals, inflammatory religious content and pyramid schemes.The ban comes despite the fact that in the UK online bingo is 100% legal and regulated by the government. However it is
thought that Facebook’s US management is concerned that they may leave themselves open to prosecution for aiding and abetting gambling if they take advertising.

Bingo bosses raise charity funds going back to the floor

A number of Gala Coral Group's directors raised nearly £2k for Sue Ryder Care by hosting 2 December evening bingo session at Gala Bingo's Woking club in Surrey.The session, which was open to the public, saw 10 of the company's directors go ‘back to the floor' with a couple calling two dedicated charity games of bingo and the others serving food and drinks to customers in aid of Gala Coral's group charity Sue Ryder Care.
Sue Ryder Care provides expert and compassionate care to people living with conditions including Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke and Huntington's Disease. Through a number of ongoing initiatives Gala Coral is aiming to raise £1million by 2010 to help the charity continue to provide care that liberates lives in 14 care centres and community-based services across the UK.The evening culminated in an auction which saw ferocious bidding on some great donations from companies such as SCC and BT and included a Samsung Netbook, 19" LCD Samsung plasma TV, a Wii Fit, a smoothie maker, a dolls house, BT portable digital telephones, BT Baby Monitor and a classic train set.
